Wanting to be someone you’re not, is a waste of the person you are.

Mes Chèries,

Today’s post is not really a post, but thoughts.

I may blog as Massie Block but I completely despise the idea of hierarchy. Queen Bees, Alphas, and Elite have become meaningless words in today’s world where everyone feel they have the right to call themselves better than others. While they may believe this is true, it’s quite the opposite. Anyone who thinks they are better than anyone else on this planet, could not be more wrong.

I’d like to ask the question “Why?”

What makes you better than me? What makes you better than anyone else?

Any girl going through middle school or high school could picture a girl in their head when I say “Think of a girl that thinks she is better than everyone else.” We all know that girl don’t we? Always brags about how expensive her clothes are, how much fun she had on Friday night, or just in general how much better she is than that other girl?

Yes, we all know “that girl” too well.

She puts you down because you don’t think like her. She puts you down because you don’t wear the same clothes as her. She puts you down because you don’t like the same music as her. She puts you down because you don’t have the same friends as her.

She puts you down because you aren’t exactly like her.

But in what way does that constitute her as better than you?

Last time I checked some of the greatest people on this planet were the ones who refused to conform. Look at Emma Watson, Anne Hathaway, Elizabeth Mclaughlin, Selena Gomez, Katy Perry, Blake Lively, and Leighton Meester. Each one of these girls is more unique than the next and I think everyone could agree they are beautiful because of they are. They never apologize for being themselves.  So why should we?

Just because you aren’t like everyone else, doesn’t mean you are any less amazing, any less special, or any less desirable. It simply means you are absolutely unique. And what’s better than being one of a kind? 😉

So I would like to ask you to take a pledge. Love who you are. Stop judging others. Accept girls for their flaws instead of condemning them for it. Embrace every girl out there for exactly who she is because that person is pretty fantastic.

I know this post might “offend” some of you because not everyone here agrees with me, but I had to say it. I love every one of my readers because of who you are. You are all so different and each one of you has a unique take on life. Those are the people I want to consider my friends. Those are the people I want to surround myself with.

Will you?

Quote by Emma Watson.

  1. Great post! I feel the same way, Massie is a fictional character, and shouldnt be portrayed like that in real life! Its great that you posted this, i think it needed to be said! and i support you 100 %!
    Love yew!
    New post!
Also DONT POST about my new post yet im not done

  2. I honestly couldn’t have said it better. It’s so true that every school, every grade, and every ‘clique’ even, has a mean girl. And then also her followers.
They make it seem like it’s their life’s mission to put you down & make fun of you because you don’t follow the herd.
In Real Life I am very, very, very familiar with that girl.
She acts as if she rules the school, but in reality she’s loney & afraid & insecure about herself.
I am proud to say that I actually have my own opinion & thoughts outside my Massie blog. 🙂

    Au Revoir,

  3. I adored this post. ‘Nuff said. (:
But I completely agree with you on all of it! My person that think she’s better than everyone is Bratalie; and seriously, no one actually likes her.
It’s definitely best to be unique, to stand out from the crowd and be yourself. It shows bravery and let’s people get to know the real you.
    Again, I loved this post!!

  4. Hey Kelsey,
    Gorgeousness post!
I completely agree with every single word.
I couldn’t have said it any better myself, at all.
Recently, I have definitely been working on not judging people and liking them for who they are, which is a much better way of living for me.
The quote is so true and so lovely.
    Love you,
    Natalie x 🙂

  5. I totally agree. And the quote and the bottom, so cool.
Emma Watson is a role model for me. Same w/ Kristen Stewart.
I’m pretty sure we have or have had ppl on WP like that. “that girl.” LOL

    ❤ Lilæ

  6. Wow. Speechless! I loved this post, and I definitly take the pledge. I know that girl way to well. Even though on the inside, I know that she is probably more insecure than the girls she makes fun of. I’ve always been pretty confident, happy with myself. But I totally agree with girls bragging about themselves.I find it a little…superficial when bloggers say they are “The best on WP” or even in RL. Congrats, MBL. I couldn’t have put those thoughts in to better words. After all, “An original is always worth more than a copy”. One of my fave quotes.

    ❤ Leesh ❤

  7. Aww this is great massie! I so agree with you! I have a lot going on in my life and i dont fall under the category of normal but thats because i dont care about what people think of me.
Seriously people judge me all the time, its annoying.
And the people that re considered popular, well they are just the ones who waste thier days away, drinking, smoking, doing drugs, having sex, and party-ing.
Is that what this generation has come to? Because that’s all anyone ever talks about, now a days.
And i dont just view things like this because i am religious, but even if i was not, i still think our generation is at a sad place right now 😦
    Classically Claire

  8. couldn’t agree more.
we aren’t weird at all, we are just unique- CL
BTW can you do me a huge favor and advertise my blog? i haven’t been getting a lot of comments, other than from Skye

  9. This post just made my day, seriously! I’m glad you think this way! It’s nice to see the the little by little changes in how WP girls are learning that being fake gets you no where and it’s better being yourself because thats what everyones clearly best at doing! It’d be my wish for everyone to feel the same way as you! I love this post ♥

  10. Hey Massie! Ehmagawd I am so sawrry that I havn’t commented awn this post yet, I hope you can forgive me! This post is truly ah-mazing. I ah-gree with every single word you said, you really inspired me. In my real life blawg I only tawlk ah-bout awl of the good times I have had and awl of the parties I go to, I need to show the world that I’m nawt always little miss popular and perfect. Thank you so much Kelsey for posting this 😀

  11. That was probably one of the best posts I have ever read on WP. I am so glad you said that. I personally hat when people think their so much better then the next. Because their not. They are just as good as you, or me, or her or him. We are all equal in this world. People need to read tis and rethink the way they act. Because some people just don’t get it. Anyways, great post. I loved it, and agreed with every word. Thanks you again for saying this, because your right, it needed to be said. 🙂

  12. MBL,
I definitely have to agree about this whole post, but firstly, I love Selena’s Who Says! Such a good song!
I hate it when people are so self-conscious about themselves – it angers me so much. I mean who freaking cares about what others think of you?!
I also hate the “alpha” thing, like when girls on WordPress tell me “You’re not alpha enough…” all that crap. Believe me, someone’s doing that to my blog.

New post on my Blogspot! http://www.rufflesandcouture.blogspot.com

  13. Hey! Ah-dore the post. I am subscribed as I have been for a while.

You may remember me as Tiffany Queen or GlitterAndCouture, but now I have abandoned real-life blogging and moved on to beauty blogging! I enjoy it a lot more because I don’t feel like I have to post every day or so. I just published a post, my third one on the blog, and I think you may enjoy it!
