When Massie Block looks into her mirror, she sees three things; an Alpha to the Pretty Committee, a mother to Bean, and a dedicated crush. However, girls like me who picked up The Clique books see a lot more than Massie would ever admit. We don’t always see Massie as a confident Alpha, as a girl who has the world in her manicured hands, or a girl who was in control of everything. Sometimes we see her insecurities and recognize those in ourselves. Sometimes we see her fear of failure and it reminds us of all the times we weren’t the best we could be. Sometimes we see a girl who is not always loved by her friends and it reminds us of our own struggles that we face everyday.

Massie Block might bring out the best and worst in all of us but I know she brings out my best. The confidence I lack in real life seems to flourish on my blog. The stories I tell are ones of my own life and own experiences, but I promise mine aren’t as exciting. The characters don’t have as much drama, but I know they have the same heart.

We all have a little bit of Massie Block inside us and while some of us have a small part, others have a much larger part. We may admire her for her confidence and ambition while others shy away from it. We may thrive on the friendship built by the Pretty Committee while others don’t believe it’s realistic. No matter what we see in Massie Block, we can all agree on one thing.
